SHILLONG, June 20: Governor Satya Pal Malik has assured a delegation of casual employees of North-Eastern Hill University of his intervention in problems reportedly faced by the latter.
This was informed by All NEHU Workers’ Union president Napoleon Mawphniang after a meeting with the Governor on Monday.
The casual employees of NEHU, under the umbrella of All NEHU Workers’ Union, on Monday called on Governor Satya Pal Malik, and apprised the latter of the problems reportedly faced by them.
Talking to reporters after the meeting, Mawphniang said that the Governor not only patiently heard their grievances but also assured that he will follow the matter with the concerned authority.
Mawphniang said the delegation informed the Governor that despite serving the university for more than 10 years, the services of the casual employees are yet to be regularised.
Lamenting that there is no job security for the casual employees, the union president said that they are paid Rs 400 per day for their services. He said that there are some employees whose services are yet to be regularised despite having served the university for 20-25 years.
According to him, as per the rule, any employee who has worked for 10 years continuously must be regularised.
