SHILLONG, June 26: The All India Trinamool Congress has accused the ruling dispensation of making concerted efforts to create a rift among party leaders.
“The political parties in the ruling coalition have been constantly trying to poach AITC leaders which goes to show that we have a better leadership. They are trying to break us and get some our leaders to join their fold,” opposition chief whip George B Lyngdoh said on Sunday, while referring to the claims of some political parties that AITC leaders have sent them feelers.
Stating that the efforts to poach AITC party leaders have been unrelenting, Lyngdoh said, “This indicates that they do not have any confidence in their own leadership.”
He said the AITC was gaining strength as prominent people and leaders are joining the party. “Out of the 36 constituencies in Khasi-Jaintia Hills, we have formed coordination and block committees in 26 constituencies,” he said.
