SHILLONG: The Raliang Circle of the Hynniewtrep National Youth Front (HNYF – RC) has expressed concern over some of the ‘self-styled headmen’ functioning in Jaintia Hills.
In a letter submitted to Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC), the NGO said that there were many self-proclaimed headmen, especially from the Hmar community in and around the two districts of Jaintia hills.
While demanding action against some self-styled headmen, the NGO also demanded that the JHADC should exercise its power as enshrined under the Sixth Schedule by taking strong action against such headmen.
