SHILLONG, June 28: Suspended Congress MLA PT Sawkmie has asked cement companies operating in the state to extend financial assistance to Meghalaya the same way they have done for Assam.
Sawkmie elucidated that Meghalaya too has sustained heavy damages due to flash floods, landslides, etc. as well as the loss of lives.
“The companies in the state like Star Cement, Dalmia Cement and Top Cement have given more than (rupees) one crore fifty lakhs to Assam and we would like to know if these companies are extending similar assistance to Meghalaya since they are producing cements from Meghalaya,” Sawkmie said.
