DGP interacts with traditional heads in city

SHILLONG, July 9: In a bid to understand the people’ side of the story, Meghalaya DGP LR Bishnoi, on Saturday, interacted with traditional heads of localities under the Durbar Pyllun Jaiaw and Lympung ki Hynriew Shnong besides others. This is the initiative of the DGP to get reach out to stakeholders on the ground in order to address the issues at the grassroots by working in synergy and with them on board.
The interactive programme was held at Jaiaw Shyiap Lumpyllon community hall which was attended by top officials of the police and chairmen of the Dorbar Jaiaw Pyllun and the Lympung Ki Hynriew Shnong, Rangbah Shnongs and Rangbah Dongs, president and secretary of the Seng Kynthei and Seng Samla of the localities.
Law and order was at the top of the list during the discussions followed by issues such as drug trafficking and traffic management.
The traditional leaders raised their concern and made suggestions to ensure better handling of the issues.
Others who were present include CRPF IG Sonal V Mishra, Commandant 67 CRPF, East Khasi Hills Superintendant of Police (SP) Sylvester Nongtnger, SP (City) Vivek Syiem, SP (Traffic) Shailendra Bamaniya among other officers.
It may be recalled that the DGP had recently visited some parts of the city to supervise the security arrangement and understand the problems faced by the people.
