SHILLONG, July 14: The United Democratic Party (UDP), which had announced last month that it would release the first list of candidates for the 2023 Assembly polls on July 7, is yet to finalise the list.
UDP president Metbah Lyngdoh on Thursday said the party was yet to meet to finalise the first list of its candidates. He added that the meeting will be called soon.
Lyngdoh had earlier informed that the UDP would release its first list of candidates on July 7. He had also mentioned that the party had constituted a state election committee to decide the allotment of tickets to suitable candidates.
“So far we have finalised names of candidates for 29 seats which include our sitting MLAs, sitting MLAs from other parties and some fresh names,” he had said.
He had refused to divulge the names of the MLAs from other parties who would be contesting on UDP tickets.
