SHILLONG, July 15: The GVK Emergency Management and Research Institute on Friday asked the Meghalaya EMRI Workers’ Union to solve their issues and grievances through dialogues and refrain from disrupting the services.
The employees have given a 72-hour deadline to the state government to terminate its contract with the company which is operating the 108 emergency services in Meghalaya and have threatened to cease work if their demand was not fulfilled.
“We take this opportunity to appeal to the employees not to resort to disruption of services and cause hardship to the citizens of the state in need of the services at the time of emergency. Any grievances can be resolved through discussion,” GVK EMRI state head Deepankar Choudhury said on Friday.
