SHILLONG: The indefinite hunger strike of the Association of Qualified Grade IV Association-2011, East Khasi Hills, took a serious turn on the second day on Tuesday after four agitators were admitted to Shillong Civil Hospital when they complained of weakness.

The medical team, which was posted at Student’s Field, Jaiaw, the venue of the hunger strike, referred the four to the hospital due to weakness.

The four hunger strikers have been identified as Renisha Pathaw, Veronica Rynjah, Tlikshon Nongsiej and Elizabeth Nongbri.

It has been informed that the condition of one of the hunger strikers was critical while the others were in stable health.

Earlier in the day, a Magistrate deputed by the East Khasi Hills district administration has requested the agitators to call their off stir.

The magistrate even informed the agitators that the Deputy Commissioner was willing to meet them, but the hunger strikers remained firm in their demand to continue with the agitation until the Government came out with an assurance of giving appointment to all the qualified candidates.
