Three N-E boys assaulted in Delhi: Father, son held

NEW DELHI: In yet another shocking incident of discrimination against the Northeast people, three boys from the region were allegedly beaten up by their landlord and his son on Monday evening.

The landlord, Adarsh Kumar and his son, Ashish Tokas, have been arrested after they allegedly assaulted the three boys with sticks accompanying a group of local people here in Munirka area on Monday.

According to the three victims, they were thrashed while they were standing inside the building, after one of them spitted on the ground.

The incident occurred at around 3.30 PM on Monday, when one of the victims said that he had inhaled a mosquito and spitted out immediately on the ground. When the landlord Adarsh Kumar saw this, he began thrashing them with the help of the local people numbering around 7-10 and armed with wooden sticks and iron rods.

“Even our own landlord threatened us with dire consequences if we reported to police,” said Roney, one of the victims.

The three victims Roney (25), Guite (23) and Samson (25), sustained injuries during the physical assault by the locals.

The victims were brought to Sardarjung hospital with minor injuries.

However, Guite said that the doctor told him that his eardrum had busted and he needs to undergo a minor operation after some days.

A case has been registered in Vasant Vihar Police Station under sections 506 (Punishment for criminal intimidation), 323 (Punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 341 (Punishment for wrongful restraint) and 34 (Acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of IPC (1860).

The FIR was lodged only by Tuesday midnight, almost 10 hour after the incident, and after due pressure from from the NE Helpline and some N-E students’ organisation based in Delhi.
