SHILLONG, July 22: The SSA teachers, who withdrew their indefinite sit-in on Thursday following a four-month pay assurance from the state government, have decided to forgive Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui for his “no work, no pay” diktat.
“As teachers we do not want to hold on to our grudge against the Education Minister. But we do feel that he (Rymbui) needs to think before making any statement in future which might hurt the sentiments of the teachers,” MSSASA president Aristotle Rymbai told reporters on Friday.
Rymbui had on Wednesday warned that if the SSA teachers do not resume classes, the government will have no option other than issuing an order of ‘no work, no pay’.
He had also stated that the government would withdraw the grant-in-aid to those schools which remain closed inspite of the order.
