SHILLONG, July 23: After assuming charge as the Chairman of Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) recently, Manoj Kumar has asserted that he will accord priority to creating livelihood for artisans and popularising khadi, globally.
Informing that realising the dream of Aatmanirbhar Bharat would also be one of his priorities, Kumar said KVIC would continue working on the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to make the youths ‘job-givers’ and not ‘job-seekers’.
“The KVIC Chairman said he would ensure that the money disbursed by the government directly reaches the hands of khadi artisans which would, in turn, pave the way for economic empowerment of the weaker sections of the society, particularly the poorest of the poor,” a statement in this regard said.
“Popularising khadi on the global platform, the way it has gained popularity in India, will be a top priority. Our efforts will be to make khadi global from being a local product,” Kumar said.
