I could perceive to some extent the hurt in her eyes. The gathering dark clouds of pent up agony and emotions was followed by a torrential stream of tears, as her arrested estranged companion was escorted to court. There was a perceptible conflict between the compassionate heart of a women and a mind screaming to be liberated from the bondage of humiliation and torture. She was navigating the bend to finally cross over to safety, burning the proverbial “bridge” of her marital relationship behind. It is not easy, particularly for a mother with two young daughters with memories of a third girl child mercilessly slaughtered in her womb, before her advent to this cruel world. The life of the unborn was sacrificed only because the foetus was not a boy child. The heart broken wail of a mother fell on deaf ears of the person and his entire family, who viewed everything, including human life and values on the economic parlance of profit and loss. In the so called “forward” society, the birth of a daughter in many affluent families even to-day are “evaluated” as a debit “entry” and birth of a son being “credit” admission, in the balance sheet of life. She struggled relentlessly for over a decade to steady the relationship but her efforts were rewarded with brutality and torture, extending even to her siblings. This is when the compassionate and delicate heart of a woman gave way to steely resolve to free her and the two innocent young hearts from the quagmire of greed and violence.
She shall be a symbol of inspiration – as her name signifies, for hundreds of women who must draw the line at some point and not suffer silently any dishonour merely on gender discrimination.
And the determining “issue” for all seeking “credit” accrual is linked exclusively to the chromosomal set up of the male and has nothing to do with the female. So how can males kill their own chromosomal misbehaviour. Can tampering with nature not have its own Karma? Like someone said, men keep their brains down under.
