ANVC(B) seeks CM’s intervention in Garo Hills problems

 TURA: ANVC(B) chairman Rimpu N Marak has sought immediate intervention of Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma in resolving various issues in Garo Hills that according to the outfit, needed immediate attention and departmental ramification.

In a communiqué sent to the Chief Minister, the ANVC(B) expressed concern over the quality of drinking water supplied by the PHE department.

“The water supplied was dirty and unfit for human consumption so much so that people are even being hospitalized after its consumption,” the ANVC(B) chairman said.

Insufficient supply of water was stated as another major concern of the people of th region.

Lack of life saving medicines in government hospitals was cited as a grave shortcoming in the districts and required immediate attention.

“Most of the basic medicines are supplied through the National Rural Health Mission,” Marak stated.

“The drawbacks of each department in providing adequate facilities to the people can undoubtedly be assumed as the failure of the government,” added Marak while urging Dr Sangma to ensure that the basic necessities of the people of Garo Hills are given priority.
