Saturday said that there is discontentment within the ruling Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA), while justifying the claim by citing reports about sitting MLAs of the National People’s Party (NPP) allegedly approaching the TMC and other parties for greener pastures.
“There is lots of discontentment within the ruling coalition and there are also reports that many sitting MLAs will be denied ticket from the NPP and therefore the sitting MLAs have to approach prominent parties that would be seen as formidable force in the upcoming elections,” said Opposition Chief Whip George B Lyngdoh.
On NPP charge that five of the 12 TMC MLAs are looking to jump ship and that the TMC is making attempts to poach leaders from the MDA, Lyngdoh this is just a perception manifested by the NPP.
“The approach is from the MLAs of the ruling coalition. Many MLAs are also approaching the TMC for party tickets,” he added.
The ruling NPP and opposition TMC are at loggerheads as assembly polls draw nearer.
