SHILLONG, Aug 9: The state cabinet on Tuesday extended the e-Stamping project to others districts, viz. West Jaintia Hills, West Garo Hills and Ri-Bhoi.
The e-Stamping project was initially implemented in East Khasi Hills with single counter at the DC office operated by the Central Record Keeping Agency (CRA).
Addressing media persons here following the meeting, cabinet minister James Sangma said that the decision to extend the project to other districts was taken after the government received good response from the citizens in terms of ease of doing business, especially for high denomination non-judicial stamp.
It may be mentioned that the state government aims to extend the project to all the districts.
James also informed that the CRA has suggested that the implementation of the project in other districts may be made through the appointment of collection centres which are duly approved by the government.
Nod to Police infrastructure Renovation Fund
James also informed that the state government has approved a proposal to set up Police Infrastructure Renovation Fund (PIRF).
He said that under the PIRF, repair works of police stations, police outposts, fire service stations, anti-dacoity camps and police battalions will be taken up.
For this purpose, a district-level committee is also being set up, which will be headed by the respective deputy commissioners and include SPs, commanders of the battalions and project director and executive engineers of the DRDA, he said.
“The police stations which are to be improved will be decided by the district-level committee and an amount of Rs 50 lakh will be placed at the disposal of each district for implementing the funds,” James added.
