 SHILLONG: After Bidyapati of Manipur, Nima Lama of Arunachal Pradesh and Anand Gurung of Sikkim unfurled the expedition flag on top of Mt. Everest on May 17, morning as part of the 1st North East India top of the World Mt. Everest Expedition 2013, 6 more climbers of the team reached the height successfully on Saturday.

Besides Wansuk Myrthong of Shillong, Anshu Jamshenpa of Arunachal Pradesh, N. Chingkheinganba of Manipur, David Zohmangaiha of Mizoram, Tarun Saikia of Assam and Kazi Sherpa of Sikkim made their successful summit in the morning.

It was for the first time that David and Tarun scaled the Mt. Everest.

Anshu has created history again by being the mother of two who successfully reached Mt. Everest for the third time. N. Chingkheinganba, the 16 year old boy from Manipur is the youngest among the team. The expedition team comprised mountaineers exclusively from Northeast.

It was executed under the leadership of Manipur Mountaineering and Trekking Association, funded by North Eastern Council, Shillong and Supported by Planning Department,Manipur Government. The Leader of the Expedition is Dr. L. Surjit, President of Manipur Mountaineering and Trekking Association.

Puyamcha Mohon from Manipur is expected to reach Everest by Sunday morning.
