SHILLONG: A direct promotion is waiting Wansuk Myrthong, the first woman from the State and the Meghalaya Ploice to scale the Mount Everest on Saturday.

An elated Home Minister Roshan Warjri said that she has asked the DGP Prem Singh to send a proposal to the Government for an out of turn promotion for Myrthong for the rare achievement.

Myrthong, who is a constable, will be appointed as Havildar if the Government clears the proposal.

“I am happy that with this achievement, she brought laurels to the State, Police and the people”, Warjri said.

This is also good news and a proud moment for the women in Meghalaya, the Home Minister added.
