SHILLONG, Aug 18: The Opposition Trinamool Congress is gearing up to corner the NPP-led MDA government in the upcoming six-day autumn session of the Assembly, asserting that it would take up all pertinent issues concerning the state and the people.
“All issues will be taken up in the right earnest to get the desired result that we want for the larger good of the state and the people,” Opposition leader Mukul Sangma said on Thursday.
Talking about the short duration of the session, he said that the Opposition was not sure how much time will be available for discussions on specific issues taken up in the House.
Asked if TMC will demand the resignation of the Power minister over allegations of anomalies in the smart meter project and the Saubhagya scheme, Sangma said, “It is a complex answer as it is unclear as to how many people are involved in the criminal conspiracy. The best option is to initiate an independent inquiry and the same stand will be there in the Assembly.”
The six-day autumn session will commence from September 9.
