TURA: The Joint Action Committee from East Garo Hills which is protesting the construction of a dam over Daribokgre stream by the Government has announced that it will not call for a non-cooperation movement but shall extend its night blockade for a whole week in the eastern and southern districts.
The JAC president Silseng G Momin informed that they would not press for the non-cooperation movement which would close down East and South Garo Hills in view of the SSLC examination results which will be declared on Thursday.
“Since SSLC results will be declared this week, thousands of students will be seeking admission into colleges and we don’t want any interruption to the admission process, that is why we have decided not to call for the non-cooperation movement,” announced JAC President Silseng G Momin.
He also added that in place of the non-cooperation movement, the JAC will be picketing the offices of the Public Health Engineering (PHE) in East and south Garo Hills from Wednesday to Friday, this week, while the night blockade will remain in place throughout the week.
“The 7 pm to 5 am night road blockade will complete on Sunday,” said the JAC president.
