SHILLONG: A day after the seven-year-old Malki rape victim revealed the details of the incident, the Malki Presbyterian School on Tuesday contradicted the statement of the girl regarding the presence of the two accused inside the school campus.

In a statement issued here on Tuesday, authorities of the school, where the victim studies, said that the statement given by the victim was untrue since the school compound is secured and safe as the school chowkidar is always present on the school premises twenty four hours a day as he resides in the school compound itself.

The victim on Monday had made fresh revelations in the case, informing that she had been forcibly taken away by two men from the school premises while she was drinking water from a tap which was located behind the school. She had also revealed that the two men were hiding inside the school premises.

“The question of the two men hiding in the school premises does not arises as the school compound is secured and safe,” Headmaster of the school, P Nongneng said, adding that the statement that she was carried to the jungle from the gate located behind the school contradicted the previous report which appeared in the local dailies on May 14 which had stated that the victim was forcibly taken to the jungle from the roadside.

The school authority has urged the Police department to speed up the investigation while putting their trust on the department hoping that a clear picture would come to light after the probe.
