SHILLONG: Yet another case of sexual assault on helpless victims has come to the fore when a woman lodged a complaint at Jowai police station that in November last year, her brother-in-law identified as Drasing Shylla had raped her 14-year-old daughter, who is mentally unstable, at Barato village in West Jaintia Hills.

The latest case of sexual assault of a mentally-disabled minor comes a day after it was reported that a 13-year-old mentally-challenged girl had been repeatedly raped by her uncle identified as Bratstar Pariong (30) in West Khasi Hills over the past several months after which the girl reportedly became pregnant.

Of late the State has witnessed a spurt in cases of sexual assault of women and minor girls.
