Prominent citizens of Shillong felicitated

SHILLONG, Aug 26: Prominent citizens of Shillong from varied fields such as education, rural development, environment, sports, music, as well as social service, were feted by the Income Tax department for their contributions.
The prominent individuals felicitated at the programme here as part of the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav commemoration include former UPSC chairperson Prof David Syiemlieh, Padma Shri and educationist Bertha G Dkhar, former Indian footballer Aiborlang Khongjee, Padma Shri Trinity Saioo, well-known musician Lou Majaw, hotelier and owner of Jiva Hospitality Jiwat Vaswani, and prominent philanthropist Christopher Ranee.
Tushar Kanti Bhattacharjee, a resident of Rilbong for his contribution to India’s freedom struggle during the pre-independence period.
