SHILLONG: The State Home Department has sought a detailed report from the police on the reports of police assisting the ANVC (B) to take on the GNLA.

A Home department official informed on Friday that it has already written to the State DGP to submit the report at the earliest.

United Achik Liberation Army (UALA) chief Singbirth N Marak alias Norrok X Momin had, on Thursday, alleged that several weapons handed over to ANVC (B) chairman Rimpu Marak and Mukosh Marak to take on GNLA by Meghalaya DSP TC Chacko had earlier been seized from other militant groups including the GNLA.

The UALA leader, who was the then Action Commander of ANVC (B), said that he was witness to handing over of weapons during the tenure of former SP Sylvester Nongtnger when TC Chacko was the Circle Inspector in Williamnagar.

After the revelations, the GNLA had asked the Government to carry out a CBI probe into the incident.

Moreover, the All India Garo Union (AIGU) and the CSWO have demanded action against TC Chacko.

However, ANVC (B) chief Rimpu Marak has denied the allegations.
