SHILLONG: They had shed the blood of others in the past. Now they have decided to give their own blood to save the lives of others.
The ANVC (B), which is awaiting the final peace pact with the Government, has said that its cadres will donate blood to the blood bank in the civil hospital, considering that blood banks in the government hospitals in Meghalaya are facing acute shortage of blood.
“We know that the requirement of blood in Civil Hospital is not less than 200 units per month. Therefore, we have decided to donate our blood to suffice the requirements of the blood banks,” Raka Momin, PS to the ANVC (B) chairman, said.
The outfit has also decided to organize cleaning drives and plant trees at various places and has even announced that it wants to volunteer for free tuitions to the underprivileged children from the surrounding villages and also impart training in other disciplines like sports, music and various competitive games.
Momin informed that the ANVC (B) had wanted to pass these resolutions in the presence of Home Minister Roshan Warjri who was expected to visit their camp, but the Minister did not visit the camp.
“We had wanted to pass these resolutions in the presence of the Home Minister which would have added much value to our gathering,” the outfit said.
The outfit also pointed out that it is determined to come back to the mainstream and hopes to mend and build the society after the passage of the final peace pact.
“Our anticipations are high as the peace pact would bring mass change in terms of development for the people which will ultimately help in the growth of the State,” the outfit added.
