SHILLONG, Sep 5: Block offices act as bridges between the government and the public, C&RD Minister Hamletson Dohling on Monday as he laid the foundation stone for the construction of new Mylliem C&RD Block Office building at Block Headquarters, 5th Mile, Upper Shillong.
According to a statement, the programme was also attended by Nongkrem MLA Lambor Malngiang, Director of C&RD department SC Sadhu, among others.
In his address, the C&RD Minister accentuated the need to improve facilities for better service deliveries.
Maintaining that block offices act as bridges between the government and the public, Dohling informed that the government had doled out Rs 120 crore for the upgrade of 40 block offices in the state.
Informing that Rs 3 crore has been sanctioned for each block, the minister also informed that the upgrade of six blocks in Meghalaya is already complete.
Heaping praises on the smooth functioning of the Mylliem Block Office, Dohling laid special emphasis on the success of self-help group formation in the block, which, he said, is due to the efforts and determination of the block office as well as the Meghalaya State Rural Livelihoods Society (MSRLS).
During the programme, the minister also thanked the outgoing Block Development Officer PT Passah for his contribution in the uplift of the residents of Mylliem.
