NONGSTOIN, Sep 6: A long unfulfilled wish of the people of Nongthyllep and adjoining villages materialised on Tuesday after Assembly Speaker Metbah Lyngdoh inaugurated the Nongthyllep Sub-Centre in Eastern West Khasi Hills.
The inaugural function was organised by the office of the District Medical and Health Officer, West Khasi Hills, in collaboration with the Directorate of Health Services (MI) and Health Engineering Wing.
The new sub-centre will provide healthcare services pertaining to maternal and child health, child immunisation programmes, institutional delivery and screening of communicable and non-communicable diseases among others.
In his address, Lyngdoh, who is also the MLA of Mairang, said the centre will strive to bring healthcare closer to the people, while congratulating all those whose efforts went into the fruition of the new facility.
