Crackdown on drugs in city; 3 men, 3 women held

SHILLONG, Sep 7: Meghalaya Police has dealt another blow to the drug traffickers, this time in the state capital, by raiding several areas in Laitumkhrah on Tuesday night.
Following the raid, a total of 137.78 gm heroin and Rs 2,14,075 in cash were confiscated, and six people, including three women, were arrested.
Police on Wednesday informed that the Anti Narcotic Task Force (ANTF) team first intercepted one cab (ML 05K 4437) at Lower New Colony and apprehended Debojit Ghosh (28), Badonbok Marwein (28), Ibapynhun Marwein (29) and Macdonald Khongmalai (26).
From their possession, 13.54 grams of heroin, 153 vials and three mobile phones were recovered.
Police also informed that the person who supplied the drugs was identified as Deepika Roy (32), who was apprehended at Laitumkhrah Main Road.
The ANTF team was then led to the house of Archana Roy (25) from where 57.54 grams of heroin, one mobile phone and Rs 1,94,975 in cash were recovered and subsequently seized.
“Later, the house of Deepika Roy at Nongrimbah Laitumkhrah was searched and 256.36 grams gold ornaments, 66.7 grams heroin and Rs 19,000 in cash were found and seized,” police added.
