SHILLONG, Sep 9: Alleging that the inquiry report was ‘tampered’ with, the Ka Sur Ka Bri U Hynniewtrep on Friday rejected the same and condemned the NPP-led MDA Government, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma and Home Minister Lahkmen Rymbui for shielding the erring police officials by omitting their names from the probe report.

The protesters, including women, had gathered near Rhino junction awaiting the report to be tabled. As soon as the details of the report emerged, they chanted slogans and reached Harrison Bridge in an attempt to barge into the Assembly. Policemen on duty attempted to evict them from the area leading to a scuffle. Unmoved, the agitators sat on the bridge and continued with their protest.
“We have decided to reject the report. We are not happy since the names of the police officials involved were omitted from the report,” Ka Sur Ka Bri U Hynniewtrep chairman Donboklang Kharlyngdoh said, adding that even the names of the witnesses had been removed.
He suggested that the case should be handled by a fast track court.
