JOWAI: A woman, identified as Ioorika Shadap (45), was found dead inside a room at her rented house at Sookilo in East Jaintia Hills District on Thursday evening.
The woman hailed from Byrwai village and sold betel nuts and betel-leaf at Sookilo market.
“She was not feeling well on Thursday and was at home. When her children came to see her, she was found dead
with sharp wound marks on her neck”, sources informed.
“We suspect that unknown miscreants came to loot the house and killed her subsequently”, sources added.
Police sources informed that the incident might have taken place between 4 to 5 pm when she was alone at home.
Police are investigating into the matter to arrest the culprits and also to find out whether it is a case of robbery and murder.
