NONGPOH: Taking note of the plight of the commuters, especially the school students in Ri Bhoi, the FKJGP North Khasi Hills District unit has demanded for Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) buses in the district. Talking to The Shillong Times the FKJGP, NKHD president Eddie G Kharbani said that even as the State Government allotted buses under the JNNURM scheme to run in different localities of Shillong, Jowai and Tura, Ri Bhoi has been neglected. “The Federation has received many complaints from the daily commuters who are neglected by the commercial vehicles and face difficulties while travelling to different parts of the district. It is time the MUA-II government takes an initiative to allot at least one JNNURM bus to ply through the Nongpoh route to Shillong so as to ease the problems of the daily commuters at the earliest,” the FKJGP said.
