One COVID death, five new cases in state

Shillong, Sep 18: Meghalaya on Sunday reported one Covid-19-related death from Ri-Bhoi district, which increased the number of overall fatalities due to the viral disease to 1622.
The state health authorities also detected five new cases of infection, health officials said.
The number of active cases declined to 46 with seven more recoveries from the viral disease recorded during the day, which increased the number of recovered cases to 94,945 in the state, which has so far registered 96,613 confirmed cases, as per government data released on Sunday.
“Currently, eight Covid-19 infected patients are undergoing treatment in various hospitals in the state,” a health official said.
Meanwhile, according to the National Health Mission record, 32,142 healthcare workers have received the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine, 29,543 have been administered with the second dose and 11,200 have taken the third precaution dose.
A total of 97,040 frontline workers have been vaccinated with the first dose, 85,788 have received the second dose and 32,598 have got the precaution shot, even as 13.12 lakh persons from among the general public have been inoculated with the first dose, 9.65 lakh have been fully vaccinated and 34,145 citizens have taken the booster dose across the state till date.
