Difficult to achieve JJM target by year-end: PHE Minister

MAWKYRWAT, Oct 7: PHE Minister Renikton L Tongkhar has said that it is difficult for the state government to achieve the target of completing the JJM implementation in Meghalaya by December 2022.
Addressing a gathering during a programme in Mawkyrwat on Friday, the PHE Minister said that the non-realisation of the target can be attributed to increase in the number of households from 5,89,888 to 6,30,000.
During the programme, Tongkhar laid the foundation stones for 11 water supply schemes projects worth Rs 112 crore, covering 46 villages and 5,177 households in Mawkyrwat, South West Khasi Hills.
He informed that out of the 11 projects, 9 of them were under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), one through the Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF) and another one through the Minimum Need Programme (MNP), which is a state project.
While speaking about the 11 water supply schemes projects in Mawkyrwat area, Tongkhar urged upon the residents of Mawkyrwat to ensure that the implementation of developmental projects are not impeded.
