ANVC (B) chairman ‘missing’

SHILLONG: The ANVC (B) cadres are in a state of disarray after their ‘chairman’ went ‘missing’ after a police raid.

In a statement issued here on Saturday, Doang Shira, the self-styled publicity secretary of ANVC (B) said that their chairman has been ‘missing’ since June 5, when the SOT and other police personnel raided a place at Babupara in West Garo Hills between 3 pm to 4 pm.

The ANVC (B) also threatened to go back to the jungle if the police do not release their chairman within 24 hours.

According to the publicity secretary, before the incident took place, the chairman was with two ANVC (B) cadres.

“After the incident, no one has seen our chairman and nobody has been able to make any contacts with him,” the ANVC (B) statement said.

The publicity secretary claimed that two of their cadres were eyewitnesses to the raid carried out by the police, but they couldn’t say anything further on what happened to the chairman and how he disappeared from the spot.

“Either the police are not disclosing the matter or they took him somewhere. But we can’t give any details about the two cadres who were present during the raid. If we disclose the names of the two cadres, there is no guarantee that they will be safe,” Shira said.

According to the ANVC (B), Rimpu cannot disappear from any public place without any trace.

“Where is our Chairman? We want him back safe and sound. We are committed to ensure peace for the people. And if we do not get back our chairman within 24 hours, all our cadres will go back to the jungle,” the publicity secretary warned.
