SHILLONG: The action-taken report on the alleged rape of two minor sisters by Sub Inspector Narul Islam in Ampati will be examined by the State Government on Monday.

The status report prepared by Commissioner and Secretary (Home) J Lyngdoh was submitted to the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) on Friday through Chief Secretary WMS Pariat, who is yet to examine the report.

“I haven’t seen the report but the same will be examined on Monday,” the Chief Secretary told The Shillong Times.

Asked whether the State Government will order further inquiry in the case, Pariat said that the government will be in the position to decide whether more inquiry should be conducted or not only after examining the report.

Besides the report prepared by Lyngdoh, the State Home department had mooted a proposal to have an additional inquiry to be carried out by the Commissioner of Divisions, but this is yet to be approved by the Chief Secretary.
