SHILLONG, Oct 11: The Special Executive Committee of the United Democratic Party (UDP) East Khasi Hills has recommended the names of five candidates to the State Election Committee for 2023 Assembly elections.
Addressing reporters here on Tuesday, UDP East Khasi Hills president Titosstarwell Chyne informed that names of five candidates for the constituencies of Sohiong, Mawsynram, Mylliem, Pynursla and Shella have been recommended to the State Election Committee.
According to Chyne, the names of the four candidates are former minister HDR Lyngdoh (Sohiong), sitting KHADC MDC Mitchel Wankhar (Mylliem), sitting MLA Balajied Synrem (Shella), noted Khasi singer and composer Anthony Khongwang (Pynursla) and Olan Suin (Mawsynram).
He, however, said that the party is yet to receive the applications of candidates from five other constituencies in East Khasi Hills, viz. Nongkrem, Mawryngkneng, Mawkynrew, Sohra and Mawphlang.
