Ao Senden calls for 12-hour Mokokchung bandh

Kohima: The Ao Senden has decided to call another Mokokchung district total 12-hour bandh from 0600 hours to 1800 hours on Tuesday, June 11.

In a statement issued by Ao Senden President Dr. Sangyu Yaden and General Secretary Tsupong Longchar said on Sunday that after not receiving of any positive response from Nagaland and Assam Governments on its memorandum and even after the imposition of bandh along Mariani and Amguri roads for the last 13 days. The Ao Senden (hoho) expressed ‘resentment’ over the issue however said medical emergency, security forces, magistrates-on-duty, media personnel, college and school examinations would be exempted from the preview of the bandh. Any person not adhering to the Ao Senden’s call would be dealt firmly and if any untoward incident occurred, Ao Senden would not be held responsible, said the statement.

Meanwhile, Ao Senden has summoned owners of six shops and imposed a fine of Rs. 5000 each per vehicle for violating its highways bandh on May 6 and 7.

Ao Senden pointed out that the violation was ‘a serious matter’ and therefore it was summoning all the ‘culprits’ with a fine. The Ao apex body further warned if any shop owners committed similar mistake, it would be compelled to take stern action against them. (UNI)
