SHILLONG: The CSWO on Thursday demanded the rectification of technical snag in the results of the Physical Efficiency Test (PET) for the recruitment to the post of Unarmed Branch constables and Armed Branch constables for the year 2012 and to provide a fair opportunity to a constable who became a victim of this technical snag.
According to the CSWO, the time for PET given in the instructions to candidates for the recruitment to this post is 60 mins and as required, the affected constable completed the required 25 laps, well within the given time.
On pursuing through the session detail report, it was found out that eight minutes of the time provided for the constable is missing and there is no record of the remaining period.
“The video snapshots show that he started at 13:01:04 and ended at 13:51:59 whereby 8 mins are still left which are not showing”, CSWO president Agnes Kharshiing said adding that the constable ran the required time and the required laps.
She also mentioned that the report clearly indicated that the constable completed a lap well within three minutes.
Within these eight minutes, the constable could have completed another two laps easily and for lapses on the machine provided, he has been deprived of his chances for the written test, she added.
The CSWO has also asked the authority concerned to provide a full video of 60 mins of December 4, 2012 from 1pm to 2pm so that all doubts are cleared, with regards to the machine set up by the recruitment board.
In the wake of much protest about unemployment being addressed and about nepotism in recruitments, Kharshiing asked the IG Training and Recruitment to address the lapse immediately and provide a fair and justified opportunity to this constable so that he is not denied of his right to work.
