Shillong: The Meghalaya Taekwondo Association (MTA) on Monday sacked Taekwondo instructor Dinesh Sasanam for his criticism of the State Government over the incompletion of the JN Sports Complex at Polo.

Sasanam had strongly criticized the State Government for failing to complete the construction of the JN Complex till date. He also slammed the authorities for not allowing the athletes to use the facilities of the fitness training centre in the complex.

The MTA has expressed surprise over Sasanam’s remarks in the capacity of an instructor of the association adding that he was not a regular employee of the organisation.

In a statement issued on Monday, MTA general secretary S Swett said Sasanam had approached the MTA a couple of months ago for the post of a Taekwondo instructor. Thereafter he was verbally allowed to teach Taekwondo at a school on the condition that he will be admitted to the MTA after a period of 2 to 3 years depending on his behaviour and coaching abilities.

” We informed Sasanam that he would be admitted as an instructor to the MTA only when the association is satisfied with his performance, ” Swett said.

“Whatever problems he has with the State Government or any other institution, he could have approached the MTA officials for redressal”, Swett added.

Swett further said that in his (Sasanam’s) present capacity it would be inappropriate for him to air his views as an instructor of the MTA.

“His (Sasanam’s) behavior has been found wanting and an act of indiscipline. This left the MTA with no alternative but to debar him from any association with the MTA and its affiliated units,” the MTA general secratary said.
