SHILLONG, Oct 26: Chef Minister Conrad K Sangma on Wednesday said almost all the districts in the state have incurred damage from cyclone Sitrang and all necessary support was being provided to the affected families.
The CM said he held a review meeting with all the deputy commissioners through video conferencing.
“We have got a fair idea of the damages. The various departments especially the Revenue and Disaster Management department has gone to full swing work,” he added.
He said that complete efforts are being made to ensure that necessary support is provided to the affected families and all deputy commissioners were working overtime to ensure that the benefits reach the people at the earliest.
“Another area which is affected is the power supply. The MeECL has worked overtime and most of the lines have been restored. We hope to restore all power supply within the next 24 hours,” he said.
The CM added: “Things are more or less coming back to normal. Efforts are being made and all support possible will be given to the affected families in different parts of the state.”
Cyclone Sitrang had caused extensive damage to crops, power lines and internet services in the state. A statement issued by the CMO had stated that two individuals were reported to have suffered electrocution in East Khasi Hills and South Garo Hills districts.
