Shillong, Nov 6: Hosting the 2nd North East Olympic Games 2022 will really give Meghalaya terrific experience that it will be able to draw on when hosting the 39th National Games, the Chef de Mission of the Manipur contingent feels.
M Rajendra Singh congratulated Meghalaya on being awarded the hosting rights for the 2nd NEOG 2022. The first edition, in 2018, was held in Manipur, a state which has also hosted the National Games.
Manipur were the overall champions in 2018 and Singh expects the state’s 449 athletes to repeat that feat.
“Manipur is crazy for sports and we have produced many international athletes, including 25 Olympians,” he said. “I do believe that our boys and girls will defend the title of overall champions.”
Singh also assured that Manipur is ready to support the organisers for the success of NEOG 2022 and encouraged Meghalaya to embrace the challenges.
