SHILLONG: A patient in Pdengshakap village in the remote West Jaintia Hills had to wait a long time on Monday night to get treatment from a doctor posted at the PHC in the village.

The Government-run PHC also charged Rs 250 from the poor patient for treatment after the doctor, Hamar Buam, provided medicine after family members knocked on his door for almost 45 minutes.

Michael Pohshna, in charge of the power house at Myntdu Leshska power project, informed over the phone that he took the patient, who is a child, and the relatives to the PHC, which was only opened after persistent appeals.
