SHILLONG, Nov 13: Governor BD Mishra has conveyed his warm greetings to the children and the people of the state on the occasion of Children’s Day, which commemorates the birth anniversary of the first Prime Minister of India, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru.
In his message to the people on the occasion, the Governor said, “Let us give our best today for our children’s tomorrow.”
“Children, on account of their tenderness, fragility and innocence, exclusively depend on their parents/guardians and the society at large for their growth, life sustenance and physical wellbeing.
Every adult in the nation, thus, owes it to her or his child or ward to afford her or him the best facilities to grow up in a healthy and happy atmosphere. Good upbringing of our children, nurtures a better future for all. We must, therefore, provide our children with the best opportunities to harness their potential and imbibe good values, so that they become ideal citizens of our state,” he added.
Children’s Day, ipso facts, is a special reminder for every parent and/or guardian as also the society to give all facilities to the children to enable them to progress with knowledge, dignity, confidence and compassion, the Governor said.
He called upon every parent/guardian to take a pledge to build a harmonious society which is empathetic to the healthy up-bringing of children.
