MAWKYRWAT, Nov 14: The Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) has rapped the state government for its purported failure in coming up with policies for the betterment of youths in the state, while stating that the Secretariat is no longer led by leaders but bosses.
“In the past 40 years, the leaders of the KSU and other NGOs have done their part and took up different issues to the government with regard to health, education and employment sector. But sadly, the Secretariat is now ruled by the boss and not leaders,” president of the KSU, Lambokstarwell Marngar, said.
“Till now we have not seen any policy that can benefit the students and the youths. Since 2018, we have demanded a policy that will bring in fairness in job recruitment whether under Meghalaya Public Service Commission (MPSC) or District Selection Committee (DSC) level, but unfortunately till now nothing has happened,” Marngar said.
Marngar made the statement during the 21st anniversary celebration of the KSU’s Phlangdiloin Area Unit on Saturday at Phlangdiloin village, about 40 kilometres from Mawkyrwat in South West Khasi Hills.
The KSU leader also reiterated the Union’s stand on any proposed mining of uranium in the state, stating that the activity will not be allowed no matter what.
