SHILLONG, Nov 27: Ministers in the MDA government do not understand the sensitivity of the situation in border areas, suspended Congress MLA P Sawkmie said as he slammed the government over the firing incident in Mukroh village, West Jaintia Hills, while asserting that governance has failed in Meghalaya under the MDA’s rule.
“Governance has failed in the state because whatever was discussed on the floor of Assembly was not implemented by the government,” Sawkmie said, while recalling the discussions on border issue and the need to set up outposts in the sensitive border villages
According to him, many IAS officers of the government are waiting for necessary orders from the concerned ministers as far as setting up of outposts in the border villages is concerned but the ministers do not seem to understand the sensitivity of the border areas.
“This is the style of functioning of this government,” Sawkmie said, adding that the government will have to take responsibility of the incident at Mukroh.
“Whatever happened at Mukroh shows the lack of governance in Meghalaya due to the incompetence of the minister who doesn’t dare to take the right decision in many issues,” he said.
