ADG of NCC in Northeast hangs boots

SHILLONG, Nov 30: Major General Bhaskar Kalita, YSM, Additional Director General (ADG) of National Cadet Corps (NCC), North Eastern Directorate, superannuated after 38 years of commissioned service in the Indian Army on Wednesday.
An alumnus of Sainik School, Goalpara, Assam, and the prestigious National Defence Academy, Pune, the officer was commissioned into the 19th Battalion of Kumaon Regiment on June 8, 1985. Since then, he has had a chequered and challenging career and held various command and staff appointments, including command of an infantry battalion, infantry brigade in counter insurgency operations, General Officer Commanding (GOC) of a Mountain Division in the Eastern Theatre, GOC of a Sub Area, etc.
As ADG of NCC in the Northeast, General Kalita had made immense contribution for the betterment of NCC in the region. He captivated the minds of cadets and struck a positive chord with the administration of all states to ensure cohesion and synergy. His efforts resulted in improvements in standards of training, training infrastructure and administration in NCC, a statement issued here said.
