NONGSTOIN: Six villages in West Khasi District – Mawkhan Pambeh, Langlew, Marngor, Mawblei, Phyllut and Mawkhan Wahkwang – have decided to boycott the MDC election scheduled to be held next year if they are included in the Pariong District Council constituency instead of Nongstoin.

During the 2013 Assembly election held in February, these villages came under Nongstoin Assembly constituency, following the delimitation system. However, the KHADC recently proposed that these villages be put under Pariong constituency for the district council polls.

Rejecting the proposal of the KHADC, the residents of the six villages under the banner of the Joint Dorbar Marngor Area Association (JDMAA), have shot off a complaint letter to CEM Pynshngain N Syiem and sought his intervention in the matter.
