Two arrested in separate theft cases

 JOWAI: Khliehriat Police in East Jaintia Hills District arrested a student of class XII (Commerce), Ebran Lamurong (20) from Dkhiah East for allegedly stealing many computer sets from schools.

Police received a separate complaint from Dkhiah East Secondary School and from St. Dominic Khliehriat Hr. Secondary School and from the Infrastructure Leasing and Financial Service Skill School (IL& FS) – a special program for dropouts at St. Dominic Higher Secondary School, Khliehriat.

Based on a tip off, Khliehriat Police jointly with the Village Defense Party (VDP), Dkhiah East arrested the youth and raided his residence in which various computer hardware components were recovered from inside his bedroom and kitchen.

Computer hardware components including Monitor, Keyboard, UPS, CPU and others were recovered besides a bundle of school certificate of Dkhiah East Secondary School and a seal of the principal, photo albums contain pictures of various activities of the schools. He admitted that his plan was to issue certificates to students and earn money.

In a similar incident, JYF apprehended one Niewkordor Hinge- a girl from Nongbah village for stealing from a beauty parlour.

The owner of the beauty partlour, Rose Siangshai and leader of the JYF including its president, P Majaw handed over the girl to Jowai Police. Few months ago, the same girl was also apprehended by the JSU and later arrested by Police.

According to Siangshai, the girl came to her beauty parlour for facial treatment. After treatment, as she left, she took away the purse containing half tola finger rings, Rs 1000 cash (approximately) and bank passbook.

Interesting, the girl completed only Class IX but she is carrying a Fake Student ID Card of the Shllong Synod College.
