103 trees to be axed in city

SHILLONG, Dec 13: As many as 103 veteran trees along National Highway 6 near Military Hospital are being axed to pave way for expansion of the existing highway as part of the Shillong-Dawki road project.
Several trees have already been felled.
A government official confirmed that 103 trees will be axed and necessary permission has been obtained from Divisional Forest Office, Shillong.
