TURA: Two bodies identified as that of a lady teacher and her nephew have been recovered in a highly decomposed state from inside a house in Garobadha region of West Garo Hills on Sunday evening.

The bodies of teacher Regina T Sangma and her nephew Jaswan T Sangma were found inside their house in Boldamgre village, around 12 kms from Garobadha police outpost, by a friend of the boy when he went to pay a visit on Sunday evening.

The school friend of Jaswan T Sangma had gone to the village to call on him when he found the house reportedly locked from outside and a powerful stench emanating from the inside.

When a forced entry was made into the house the bodies were discovered which were already in a decomposed state.

The deceased teacher Regina T Sangma, in her late 40s’, was teaching in a school in Rajabala region while Jaswan her nephew is learnt to have been a student of Class IX.

Both victims hailed from Darangdura village of Nangalbibra area in South Garo Hills district. The late Regina T Sangma had reportedly purchased a plot of land and constructed a house at Boldamgre village which was of travelling distance to her work place.

An inquest is being made into their death on Monday morning.

What has baffled authorities is that no one from the village had provided any information or report on the disappearance of two members of the same family whose bodies were found on Sunday evening.

Security has been beefed up in the area following the discovery of the bodies.

The village is close to the inter-state border with Assam and less than two months ago a gang of dacoits had raided the village and raped a teenage girl besides looting some villagers of their savings. The district police quickly replaced the police officer in charge of overseeing security of the region and also revived a previously defunct anti-dacoity camp at Rochonpara village in the area.
