SHILLONG, Dec 27: The first Miss and Mrs Mawkynrew will be organised by the Dorbar Shnong and Seng Samla of Laitlum on January 6 next year.
The event will be judged by former Mrs Shillong 2019 Marjorie Noreen Dunai, Miss India Global 2022 finalist Naphila Warbah, and fashion designer and groomer Rapborlang L Mawphlang.
Talking to reporters, Sordar of Dorbar Shnong Laitlum Philip Mylliem said that they are organising the beauty pageant as part of the initiative to provide a platform to local young girls and women.
The Sordar said that this is the first time that such a pageant event is being organised in the area. “We also hope that Laitlum will help popularise the whole area and not only Laitlum as a tourist destination,” Mylliem said, while adding that the total cash prize of pageant is Rs 80,000.
Meanwhile, former Mrs Shillong 2019 said that the last date to submit the application to participate in the beauty pageant is December 31. The auditions will be held on January 3 and the finals on January 6.
According to Dunai, the contestants will compete in four rounds — traditional dress, casual wear, formal wear and the talent round.
